Gobble Gobble

....I'm sure blogs all over cyberville are posting lists of things they are thankful for...my faith through the gift of Jesus, my family, shelter, etc....I'm sure we're all  thankful in some degree for those things... This Thanksgiving Chris and I are very thankful for our new DIL, Heather.  I'm not sure we could ask for a better match for our son Jeremy....tomorrow will be a great day.  Turkey, taters & pie fixed by dearest MIL, ( yet another person I am very thankful for), I'm sporting a very easy peasy green bean casserole... yep, the kind plastered on every dried onion/ mushroom soup/ green bean can you can find this time of year... nothing new here.  Christopher is jumping in with his tried and true "fruit whip"... so dubbed by his Uncle Josh.
1 can crushed pineapple
1 box pistachio pudding mix
1 tub of cool whip
1/2 cup walnuts
mixed the can of pineeapple with the pudding mix ( straight out of the box...) stir and then add cool whip and nuts... chill
... Jamie just called to check in and said he was going to Emily's to help her with the breads.  Apparently Grammy Sue sparked something in her and she has been enjoying the gentle art of bread baking for the last couple of weeks.  I'm sure they will come up with something just delicious.  Last year for Christmas we gave Em a fondue pot and Jamie said the homemade bread dipped in the apple cheese fondue was about enough for him to ask her to marry him!
...Jeremy called and Heather is laboring over her first cheese ball( recipe compliments of Aunt Duke), and a broccoli casserole.
..Not sure what Josh will bring... he is solo this year as his current flame is in DC visiting her dad.

...12 rows complete on Jeremy's afghan...tomorrow int eh A.M. I'll start  Emily's felted purse.  It will be a portable project to do in the car on the ride to Raleigh.

....I think the nor'easter has about blown out of here.  3 inches of rain up here on the border with wind gusts to 45.  The mighty oaks stood their ground.

.......When I was little I use to LOVE memorizing poems... here is the little prayer from age 6
.......Dear God for this abundant food ,and for your blessings rich and good.....
.........We have enjoyed the whole year through, our grateful hearts give thanks to you....
....so....make your favorite foods, stuff your faces, say a little prayer... and remember ... all good gifts are from HIM, and we thank Him for them...
................night night... sleep tight... don't le tthe bed bugs bite.....

SOOOOO....COOOOLD>>>>>

I'm not sure it has gotten above 40 all day here with a horrible wind gusting in the 20's....the main part of the house is toasty and I used the excuse to fly about straightening the house early so I could spend the afternoon crocheting on Jeremy's Christmas pressie, drinking my new fav hotchocolate, and eating toll house cookies.
One of my Ville friends sent a pack of toffee flavored cocoa to me, knowing she was getting me addicted.  Of course our little stores here in O town wouldn't carry it, but while I was making the rounds in the big city I found carmel flavored... just as high on the list and just on the verge of sinful when eaten with a Toll house cookie...
...I HAD to bake cookies... I NEEDED to keep the house warm with the oven....
.....Jerm's gift is going very well... I already have 36 rows finished ...117 more to go not counting the border.. I am hoping to finish by next Monday ...
.....I ordered the sweetest little book today... for somereason I have gone on a vintage book kick...this book isn't exxactly vintage ( 1982), but with the title I HAD to get it! Of course the Mr. already sent me a memo on that one... "We live at the end of the ROAD", ...yes dear, but how much more romantic does LANE sound ???...
...Last night I decided to shuffle through the vintage books I did have and decided to give "An Old Fashion Thanksgiving" another read through....Louisa Mae Alcott dears....and very simple gentle story that set my mind right back on the task of being thankful.
....AND to prove I have done more then sit and eat cookies all day, I came across this pictorial tuorial and made a few as little pressies for the girls: ...well...I can't get the link to post... I'm sure its me and firefox not jiving again.....but let me tell you its made from 2 bottle caps and a bit of felt and a wee bit of crafting thread... and if you do a google search for bottle cap pin cushions I'm sure you'll hit on it... well worth the look see.

......AND I have done all this with a 20 lb cat  trying to take up my lap....
.....I'll probably crochet a couple more rows, maybe work on a new ornie project, catch up on a few blogs and tuck myself in with my book....
...so...night night... sleep tight.... don't let the bed bugs bite

It's finished!!!!

One of my cyber buddies asked me to post a pic of the NASCAR afghan now that its finished...More then glad toshare and thanks for asking!......I might have much more time to crochet over the next few days,... a noreastern is blowing in from the coast so with the hatches battened down and the big bag of yarn  picked up at Michael's today.... let it snow!

So... night night.. sleep tight... don't let the bed bugs bite!

Nov 17

I'm really sorry about the lack of pics int eh posts...I really am haivng a hard time learning the perks of this new operating system...You'll just have to pretend...

...We spent the morning relaxing and enjoying CD being home.  Big cups of hot tea and coffee with a plate of cinnamon rolls... dust bunnies can wait....

In the afternoon we tootled on over to Burlington for C's 2nd game of the season... He only scored 4 pts but had several rebounds and assists...Mil& FIl game too and we had such a great visit... we HAD to visit Cracker Barrell afterwards.  I was so disappointed by the clothing selection this year.  I have several ( OK 4) jumpers and shirts from there and love the look..some cute bears and a Lambchop puppet... Anyone under the age of 45 might not remember or even know about the Sheri Lewis show, but I use to watch her all the time....( big hit with the under 5 old school crowd)

......I ran out of white yarn about 50 stitches from the end of Jamie's afghan... on the to-do list for tomorrow is to buy yarn and finish it off... I did all I could of the black trim and spent the rest of tonight weaving in all the ends...I doubt I have more then 15 minutes left on the project.  I went through the bag of goodies and pulled a few more things to go in the Jamie pile . One down!

After finishing Jamie's  I'll frame Josh's piece and make a Josh pile... He'll be very close to done too....and if I have time, all is needed would be to sew the button on the purse for Jessica... ahhhh...its all coming together bit by bit....

Not much else at the End of the Road...
so night night... sleep tight... don't let the bed bugs bite!

...."My thunderbird" reminded me of why I shouldn't  watch CSI Miami and post.... goodness...I really should proof read this stuff...

.....A belated birthday dinner to hubby tonight since he was working late last Thurs.    Pot Roast, potatoes , carrots, and cabbage.... followed with a " cherries in the  snow pile pie"...I"ll post the recipe further down...
... We had quite a bumpy morning with toranado watches and warnings... storms and lots and lots of rain.. My heart goes out to our fellow Tarheels who lost their homes to the south of us....even more so to the families who lost loved ones.  I am happy to say the sky was a nice blue after the storm passed and I all but literally busted out singing " There's Got to be a Morning After" when I left the grocery store this afternoon.
.....On the craft front.... yep... the Nascar afghan.... BUT... only 9 more rows and the border ( plus all the nasty ends to weave in) and I am done!
...I recieved  squares for Shawnee's comfortghan today.  One came form a sweetie of a girl in Modesta CA.  She is all of 9 years old and wanted to help.  Brought tears to my eyes!

.......Dear Santa,
...........for Christmas I would like a Hoosier cabinet
Love,
L
....Seriously, now that the kitchen is getting a major overhaul I do think I "need" one... My great grandparents had one in their house in Waynesburg, Pa.  It sat right before the stairs leading to the cellar....Its so funny how much I remember that kitchen...the match holder hanging on the wall ... the plaster of paris fruit with the smiling faces painted on them... the metal drinking glasses.....I would love to redo my kitchen in the same simple stuff.... I wouldn't know where to start....
except with the HOosier cabinet

Oh.... and I have been pouring over a couple of new blogs I'll need to share with you... it amazes me of all the very talented folks in the world... and I can read their creativity on their blogs....One common theme going on lately would be aprons.... handmade aprons, themed aprons, vintage aprons.... When I get done with Jamie's afghan ( if I ever get done with Jamie's afghan)...I must try my hand at a few for the girls and I......as a matter of fact there is a whole flicker group devoted to them called Tie One On.... I really am NOT much of a sewer(is that the word???? I feel like I'm calling myself a waste run off ditch here) but will give it the old college try...

...Now Cherries in the Snow Pile Pie........

My MIL gave me a recipe years ago when she passed the torch ( or pie server) of making this for hubby on his birthday to me...it called for dream whip ( do they still make that stuff) and graham cracker crumbs... melted butter...
I bumped it into the age of convience...its still good...
1 graham cracker crust
1 8 oz softened cream cheese
1 lb confectioners sugar
1 tub of cool whip

...mix the cream cheese, sugar & cool whip together with a mixer until smooth... put into the graham cracker crust.... then top it with a half a can of cherry pie filling ( you can use peaches if you want)
allow to set in fridge for about 4 hours... store in fridge...

Yummy stuff!

...Oh and Ilene... your blog won't let me post a comment!!!!
...So night night... sleep tight... don't let the bed bugs bite......

Oh My aching Fingers!!!!!

I spent a very brief time straightening the house...major cleaned the guest bath ( which also serves as the male child's bath)... did a load of laundry...made a special little pressie that I can't share with you , made a family size lasagna that I ate one piece of and the male child devoured....and the rest of the time was spent crocheting Jamie's Nascar blanket....the actual logo is finished  and now its finishing up the checkered part....I WILL finish it by Friday and then on to another project...not exactly sure what, probably Em's purse something I can do quickly with instant gratification after this afghan project.  Next week I can tie up the little odds and end projects and tackle another biggie by Thanksgiving...
....Update on Shawnee... she is getting her first doses of chemo before the surgery...her parents and brother are hanging with her... and she was able to do her piano recital before the chemo round...
...I am not sure if I posted that she and her mom sent me a braclet that I won't take off... it has gold and white beads representing childhood cancers and bone cancers... and a sweet little heart... it reminds me to pray.....which I do....
Her blankie is coming along with 16 donated squares so far( I hope to get 25)... that will no doubt be the big project for
 Thanksgiving..
Some how a moth just got in the house and the cats ( Chuck and Cobbs)  NUTS!.....aahh the life of a cat....
....Time to mosey on back to bed, read a bit in my Bible and rest up for tomorrows crochet marathon again.... the push to the finish for this one!
....Christopher got caught up in the Lincoln Conspiracy today..I always know when he hits a topic that really interests him that most other subjects are out the window for the day.....
......I suppose I will heed the words of Zechariah tonight.."As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success".....
...there's the key folks.... so.....
night night...sleep tight.... don't let the bed bugs bite!

Where Have You Been????????

Well.... I switched from my old computer to a lap top... and I am NOT very computer savvy... so my lap top browser wouldn't let me post... thanks to my dearest who had installed Firefox  and it simply took a click of the icon to set me in business again ( thanks sweetie...your the best)

...So much to catch up on!
Chris and I are in the midst of a kitchen remodel....so far so good... we agreed ont eh counter tile( only took a bit of back and forth)... and the first cabinet is framed in and the tile counter is done...sink is back in place...Lookin' Good!!!
Christopher is back in action after his ankle injury... he was top scorer at the game Friday evening ( which they won) and ready for this Friday's game in Burlington..
....Christopher and Jeremy spent the weekend in South Carolina at the Clemson vs NC State football game....they had such a great time... Sunday , Jeremy and Heather brought C home and we all went out to dinner..Josh came too... we had to give him a big thank you for serving our country on Vets day.  His big news is he is probably going to buy the little house he is renting...It is the cutest little bungalow and he has mentioned a couple time what a great starter house it would make.
...On the craft front... still slaving away at Jamie's NASCAR afghan... it has become a chore on the to-do list everyday now...very tedious...PLUS...I am so easily distracted...I had to make a pair of these:
www.geocities.com/heartland/ridge/1511/rubyslippers.html
Christopher loves them...keeps the old tootsies warm on cold nights...
AND... I got majorly caught up reading a new blog.. www.fourfiftythree.blogspot.com
Pure eye candy for me!  Now I have a list of about a gazillion things to try....
I'm off to go learn how to copy and paste in Firefox.... not sure about this OS.....
Have a fine night... all night long!
...Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.... his love endures forever

Nov. 5th

Gosh, I wrote a monster post the other  day and it got eaten ~sigh~

...what a cold but pretty day.  we got so much done this afternoon.  I still had a couple of bought with the  vertigo but nothing like I have been dealing with the last few days.  I sure wish I would feel my old self again

...Maybe my prophecy about the mol;d is coming to pass....

besides a bit of yard work Ihave been keeping myself busy doing a couple of crochet projects... I am putting together an afghan from crochet contributors of 12 inch squares.  This will go to my friend Sherry's daughter whose cancer has returned.  The girl is 15 and had almost hit the mark where you don't ahve to worry anymore.  they removed the knee cap with her last bout but the tumor is in the tissue this time... she is one brave girl!  anyone who might want to contribute a square let me know...

... AND... yesterday I recived the most wonderful package from snow laden lake Co. Ohio.  My Aunt, Uncle and cousin sent me a set of faceless dolls I have been coveting since this summer when I read the book on the Amish.  There was also a very nifty looking little bag with pressies and a note that said " Don't open until Christmas" (...this woman has know me for 48 years.... ohhh please)... but of COURSE I can't tell you what might be in it!

...I'm working my way through Jamie's afghan with the Nascar logo.... never again... I love  graphs but this is a booger bear for sure...

...I took a break from the afghan to make a baby sweater for my DIL's sister's  baby....it was part of a CAL on the Ville... very funt o do and I willb e making lots of these...

Before I hit the hay I thought I would post a pic of the dolls and the sweater...

goodnnight... sleep tight... don't let the bed bugs bite.
